A new film titled ‘Prema Pilustondi’ Chanti and Sindhu Menon are playing the lead and directed by Ajay Nathari and produced by Mekala Pavankumar under the banner of Sri Ganasai Venkateswara Movies.The audio of Prema Pilustondi was launched at Prasad Labs preview theatre in Hyderabad. Supreme Music is marketing the audio. MLA Prakash Goud released the audio CDs and handed over the first piece to MLC Kasani Gnaneswar.

The film had completed its shooting and presently busy in .undergoing DTS mixing .Music is by Ghantadi Krishna, dialogues are by Marudhuri Raja, lyrics are by Anand Raju, camera is by A Raja, editing is by MR Varma, while Mekala Lalitha Satyanarayana is presenting the movie. Bengaluru girl Sanchita Padukone has just signed her first Telugu film and she will be playing the lead role. Her first Kannada film Raavana did not create ripples, but it seems her career is soaring, outside Kannada film industry.

“I want to do more Kannada films and even dub in my own voice. But I was terribly disappointed with the response to my Kannada film. Unfortunately the pre-release publicity of the film failed to create hype. Anyways I am happy that I was noticed in the film and some of the reviews showed me in a positive light. Now, I have signed a new Telugu film with Raja in the lead. I will be playing the lead character of Madhubala and the film will be directed by a young debutant director Srinivas,” says Sanchita Padukone who will start shooting for the film on January 16 in Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, Sanchita also plays the lead role in the Tamil film Pillaiyaar Theru, Kadaisi Veedu, the shooting for which has been completed and a song has to be picturised. She is happy that her first Tamil film Vettai Kaaran has been doing well after its release.

Ravi Teja and Allari Naresh teamed up for the first time and this has set the right kind of expectations, also with the film being a remake of a Kollywood super hit ‘Nadodigal’, the scales have gone high.

Three friends (Ravi Teja, Naresh, Siva Balaji) would die for each other’s friendships and each of them have their own goals. Ravi Teja puts his time in quest of Government job to marry his uncle’s daughter (Priyamani). Allari Naresh puts efforts to go abroad for reasons untold. Siva Balaji tries for bank loan to start an own business and settle down.

However, the arrival of Ravi Teja’s friend who is keen on marrying the daughter of a factionist (Mukesh Rishi) gets the trio together and they help the love birds get married. In this process, their lives suffer a lot. Things get worse when they discover that the love birds are now on the verge of divorce and getting married elsewhere. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.

In this multi-starrer movie, Ravi Teja is with high spirits as usual and sometimes loud as well. Overall, he has contributed well to the character and the story. This is one of the highlight performances from Naresh. He strikes a chord with the audience with his performance though the story may not be that appealing to our folks. Siva Balaji looks handsome and though he is overshadowed by the presence of Ravi Teja and Naresh, he manages to make his presence felt at many instances.

Priyamani has carried her role with ease and performance driven characters suit well for Priyamani though she opts for glamour. Abhinaya is beautiful and very talented. Despite her impairment of speech and sound, she has given a splendid act.

Mukesh Rishi was evil as usual, Sunil was loud but managed few smiles, Ahuti Prasad was average, Tanikella was neat, Sudha Rani was as per standard. The others didn’t have much to contribute.

Roja appeared in a mother role (mother to Ravi Teja’s friend) as an Ex-MP and her performance is just so-so.

Krishna Bhagawan is the only saving grace for the movie that could spill some laughs on a whole.

Despite the presence of an extremely talented star cast, the film has not been able to appeal much. Technically also, the film lacks luster.

Music could have been better and the sound track didn’t help the confused tempo of the movie.

One can see that ‘Tamil Paityam’ which is usually ‘over’ as per the Telugu standards. The dose of sentiment and the overdose of emotions are something hard to digest.

Victory Venkatesh has paired up with Srinu Vaitla this time and the expectations obviously went high. With the title also catchy, this was a promising flick, how good is it, let us see

Story:
Venkatramana (Venkatesh) is a ventriloquist by profession and his only problem is marriage. He goes to European Telugu Association celebrations as a performer and encounters some interesting people there.

He is waiting for his dream girl to come. She comes in the form of Pooja (Trisha) but then, her uncle Paris Prasad (Brahmanandam) who is a manipulative kind of person creates a drama just for fun and convinces Venkatramana that Pooja is in love with him.

Meanwhile, Pooja’s marriage gets fixed with Bhadrappa (Subbaraju), the hardcore factionist and what happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Performances:
Venkatesh
It was a Venky show all the way and he has shouldered it responsibly. However, the looks of age are showing on him and even his reflexes lack that emotion. Overall, he did a good job.

Trisha
Unlike in ‘King’ where she looked healthy and bright, Trisha looks quite dull and shrunk. Also, her character doesn’t have much to perform except be there on the screen and for the songs. So, not much hard work from her.

Brahmanandam
His character was developed well and Brahmi did justice to it in a good way. Some scenes emit a lot of hilarious moments and others could have been developed better. He scored good in this one.

Others
Mukesh Rishi was regular, so were Jayaprakash Reddy, Kota, Subbaraju and others. Ali was not upto the mark, M S Narayana was good as usual, Dharmavarapu and Kasi Viswanath generated few laughs, the others like Surekha Vani and Master Bharat were there for brand value but more could be extracted from their end. The ladies also had the same effect in terms of performance and contribution.

Highlights:

• Venkatesh dancing for songs Allu Arjun’s ‘Mr Perfect’ and ‘Ringa Ringa’ brought laughs in theaters
• Vehicle chasing is a visual treat
• Dog chasing is a mass entertainer

Disappointments:

• Music
• Lack of sufficient rib tickling dialogues and situations

Analysis:
The movie is a storehouse of entire Srinu Vaitla battalion again. The standard cast and crew he maintained for his previous films is seen in this entertainer as well. The concept is just an old wine in new bottle but the shape of bottle could be more interesting. The laughing riot is not worked to the level of his earlier entertainers. Brahmanandam is used well but the dose of script is a bit weak. Master Bharat who is a standard comedy star in Srinu Vaitla’s films is also not fully utilized.

First half of the movie is entertaining but the interval bang conveys something very interesting is waiting in second half. Even the interval liner is ‘Get Ready for Real Game’. But the game is very well in predictable limits. The movie stands out to be a wonderful entertainer for the audiences those didn’t watch ‘Dhee’ and ‘Ready’. But in comparison ‘Namo Venkatesa’ of Vaitla scores little less.

Music could be better to bring better mileage for the film. On a whole it’s a family entertainer for this Sankranthi season.

Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra is now set to play Malayalam superstar Mohanlal's wife in Vishal Bharadwaj's next movie "Seven Husbands".

"Mohanlal will be playing one of Priyanka's husbands in 'Seven Husbands'. The names of other actors are being kept under wraps as of now," a source close to the actress said.

This will be for the second time that Priyanka will play multiple characters in a single film. She had essayed 12 roles in Ashutosh Gowariker's "What's Your Rashee?", but the film failed to pull in audiences.

"Seven Husbands" is Bharadwaj's next venture after his acclaimed movie "Kaminey", which also starred Priyanka. The movie is said to be co-written by Bharadwaj and author Ruskin Bond.

The second venture from the house of Aswini Dutt has got ready and the expectations were high since the storyline and the aspect of multi-starrer was applied. Has it really worked? Let us see.

Story:
It is about five characters – Meghana (Kajal) who believes in variety and wants thrill at every second of life, Teja (Nikhil) who aims to be the next Ravi Teja in the film industry, Anand (Navadeep) who got rejected 8 times by prospective brides and is now working a way with the 9th alliance Anjali (Aditi), Noorie (Bindu) whose marriage gets fixed with an army man and she is waiting for him, a farmer’s wife (Pragathi) who has to bow to the pressures of her son and give away their farming lands. Each of them has their own story and how that brings about a change in them forms the essence.

Performances:
Kajal:
She is glamorous, she is seductive in one song and looks cute as usual in few scenes, otherwise not much for her in the performance department. She has repetitive expressions which must change.

Madhavan:
He is a surprise package and though his presence was brief, thanks to ‘3 Idiots’ his screen aura is maintained here as well.

Navadeep:
He has come up with a regular performance and did justice to his role. Usually, he has sparks of brilliance when it comes to comedy but here his character was different so just pass mark.

Nikhil:
He has shown tremendous energy and has got a very expressive face. His role could have been developed in a better way and mixed with dose of humor, that would have worked.

Aditi Sharma:
She did her bit as per the standards so not much complaints from her.

Bindu Madhavi:
She has got the most minimal role in the entire lot and the contrast from a Brahmin girl in her debut to a Muslim girl in this one was visible.

Others:
Sunil gave a highlight performance, Raghu Babu managed few smiles, Siva Reddy was wasted, Murali Mohan was alright, Tanikella was not used to the fullest, Ravi Kale is another talent that was wasted. Even the guy who did the cop’s role is a good talent but his role was not given proper justice.

Analysis:
One must have experience and the finesse when it comes to running several tracks and converging them into one. While the thought process of the director can be appreciated, he was not able to get it onto the screen successfully. His amateur handling of the script was quite visible and that’s why the film fails to impress. The dialogues were okay, the script was weak and the screenplay was erratic. Music department was a major disappointment despite the presence of Ilayaraja. Cinematography was better. Costumes were neat and the art department was apt. Technically, the film has scored well and the production values were high as well but the content and delivery of the product was not impressive. The film would have been a lot better if crisp stitching of each character was made instead of complicating it with several different scenarios. Overall, the film might have good opening collections due to the star power but eventually it may not be a success at the box office.

Bottom Line: Not entertaining

After being linked to a string of actresses, Bollywood star Shahid Kapoor has finally cleared the air about his relationship
status. He says he is very much single.

"I am very much single, available and definitely ready to mingle," Shahid said on a new reality show Lift Kara De.

Shahid came as a celebrity guest on the show, which is hosted by filmmaker Karan Johar, and produced by Yash Raj Films.

The 28-year-old found himself on sticky ground when Johar asked him about his link-up with Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi actress Anushka Sharma, with whom Shahid is featuring in Parmeet Sethi’s untitled directorial debut.

"You had better ask Parmeet that question. After all directors have all the fun these days!" he quipped.

3 idiots grosses Rs 315 crore in 19 days

Aamir Khan starrer comedy-drama 3 Idiots has grossed over Rs 315 crore ($70 million) globally in 19 days since its release, a statement by Reliance BIG Entertainment, the film’s distributor, said Tuesday.

Based on Chetan Bhagat’s bestseller Five Point Someone, the film has been produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and directed by Rajkumar Hirani.

"3 Idiots has opened new vistas for the Indian film industry. The huge response across continents reinforces our belief that a well-made, well-exploited film can still create magic in the darkened auditorium. We are proud to be associated with Vinod, Aamir, Raju and the talented team of 3 idiots," said Amit Khanna, chairman, Reliance BIG Entertainment.

Added Chopra: "I am thrilled and humbled that so many people all over the world have loved this film. It proves true Rancho’s (the protagonist in the movie) mantra - chase excellence and success will follow."

Aamir echoed the sentiment, saying: "As a member of the team I am so happy with the kind of success that the film is achieving. Thanks to Raju (Hirani), for making the film so well, to Vinod for doing such a great job as a producer and to Reliance BIG Pictures for the kind of release they gave the film."

According to the statement, more that 60 million people have so far watched the film in theatres since its release Dec 25. Its box office collections have exceeded the over Rs.260 crore earned by another Aamir starrer, Ghajini, considered Hindi cinema’s highest grosser till date.

3 Idiots is also being touted as the highest grossing Indian film ever to release in the US, Middle East, Australia, South Africa, Pakistan, Kenya and Fiji.

The film has retained its position in the top 10 film at the British Box Office and is also Aamir’s biggest grosser so far and highest box office grosser of 2009. The screen count in the US for 3 Idiots has increased by 25 percent by the third week.

Indian multiplexes added on an average 14 to 21 new shows in the second week of the movie compared to its first week with 150 additional shows.

The paid previews of the movie also garnered over Rs.9 crore worldwide, above those of the paid preview collections of Ghajini that were Rs.7 crore globally.

The film also stars R. Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, Boman Irani and Kareena Kapoor in pivotal roles.

What it’s all about?

The film Adhurs is all about a wicked mafia don who keeps an army Major in a remote island and forces him to develop satellite missile technology. The Major is presumed to be dead. It is now up to the twins of the Major to save him from the clutches of the don and bring him back him safely to unite with their mother.

The plot:

Jr. NTR plays a dual role in the film – that of a Brahmin Chari and another as Narasimha, a daredevil young man who is interested in becoming a police officer. Narasimha works for a top cop Sayaji Shinde and helps him in eliminating gangsters in the city.

The Brahmin guy Chari is a disciple of Bhattu (Brahmanandam). They both make a living by performing pujas and other religious ceremonies. Bhattu is almost 50 years old but he fancies himself as a young man and he runs after the young and beautiful Chandu (Nayanatara). He wants to marry Chandu and so requests Chari to help him in the matter.

However Chandu has other ideas. She falls in love with Chari and asks him to marry him. Bhattu is angry and he wants to take revenge on Chanri for backstabbing him in the love matter.

Narasimha and Chari are separated at birth but meet later in Calcutta. The evil gangster Baba (Mahesh Manjrekar) promises the army Major Nazar that he will unite him with his family as soon as he completes his mission of developing the missile.

Sayaji Shinde’s daughter Indu (Sheela) is in love with Narasimha. Baba brings Narasimha to Calcutta to show Nazar that has family is safe. Bhattu who wants to take revenge on Chari plans to eliminate him after he is taken to Calcutta by the gangsters.

The rest of the film is about confused identities and the fight of Narasimha to save his father from the faraway island.

The actors:

Jr. NTR lives up to the expectations of his fans with superb dances, fights and acting skills. He is good in both the roles. There are however no lengthy trademark Jr. NTR dialogues in the film that he is so famous for.

Brahmanadam appears in a very meaty role and hogs the screen presence almost on par with Jr. NTR. He manages to tickle the funky bone. He gets good support from Jr. NTR, MS Narayana, Mahesh Manjrekar and others.

Nayanatara is hot and Sheela is hotter. The two heroines between themselves fill in the glamour department perfectly.

The bottom line:

Adhurs has good music by Devi Sree, some stunning dance movements by Jr. NTR, enough fights to please the front benchers. It is only the story that is weak. There is no novelty whatsoever in the story and it only Jr. NTR who makes the film interesting.

The title Adhurs applies just to Jr. NTR, the rest of the film is just average. VV Vinayak has put in a lot of effort but it somehow falls short of expectations and all the pre-release hype surrounding the film.

We all know the love story of the Tamil hero Simbhu and Nayana tara and they acted in Vallabha movie and everyone knows about their kissing scene in that movie. However, there is buzz in the tinsel town that Tamil hero Simbhu's proposed directorial venture Vaaliban is based on his brief fling with Nayanthara in real life.

Reacting to this, the actor has said that he was disturbed about reports that Vaaliban is inspired from his love life. He says that while the world knows about the love he shared with Nayanatara and the subsequent rift, Vaaliban is all about one-side love. So where is the similarity, asks Simbhu.

He reveals that the heroine in the film will never love the hero, so the question of touting the film as a real life love story does not arise.

Telangana Jagriti president and TRS president K Chandrasekhara Rao’s daughter K Kavitha warned of dire consequences if the film Adhurs made by Andhra TDP leader V Vamsi is released in Telangana region. “I request the film distributors not to invite trouble by releasing the film in the region. We have given a call to boycott the film,” she said.

The Telangana Students Joint Action Committee also called for stalling the screening of Adhurs due for release on January 13 in Telangana districts.

Already, the release of Adhurs was postponed once. If it is done again, it will be a big loss for the producers.
