Trisha bounces back!

Not to forget that young girls like Tamannaah and Kajal Aggarwal were also breathing down her back. Trisha only had Gautham Menon’s Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa with Simbu in Tamil. After being the queen bee of south Indian cinema, she was recently in the news for being cast opposite Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar in Khatta Meeta, directed by Priyadarshan.

Now, sources in the industry say that Trisha is the front runner to be Kamal Haasan’s heroine in an untitled film, directed by K S Ravikumar and produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin, who is also said to be playing a parallel role in the film. When contacted, Trisha refused to comment as she was yet to sign the film, which is likely to start rolling early next year.

After playing the lead to some of the biggest names in south Indian films like Chiranjeevi, Mahesh Babu, Venkatesh, Vijay, Ajith and Suriya, Trisha is being paired with the Ulaganayagan for the first time.

Sources close to her say, "It will be a dream come true for Trisha. She had earlier canned a few scenes with Kamal for Marmayogi, which was subsequently put on the backburner."

Trade analysts say that it is a fantastic comeback for the actress that could put her right back at the top. Veteran trade analyst Krishnan says, "In Kollywood, the shelf life of a top heroine these days is only three to five years. Trisha will get another chance to bounce back to the top if she signs the film with Kamal. Now, 2010 looks like a shootout between T & T (Tamannaah vs Trisha)."

Hansika has no worries

Hot Hansika Motwani’s “Sita Ramula Kalyanam” is all set to hit the screen sin January this year. The movie features 13 flop actor Nitin of “Jayam and SYE” fame. Since, Nitin is a hero from Telangana, the ongoing agitation against tollywood will not affect his film in anyway.

But the problem with the movie is that the movie lacks griping storyline as well as perfect screenplay. According to unit sources, this movie will also be in the track of Nitin’s previous and idiotic movies such as HERO, DRONA, and RECHIPO and so on as the list is a it big.

Film industry loses 30 crore

According to the Producers Council Secretary T. Prasanna Kumar, the film ‘Arya-2’ starring Allu Arjun alone lost about Rs. 3 crore because theatres across the Andhra, Rayalaseema and Telangana regions were not allowed to screen the film. The suspense-thriller ‘Amaravathi’ lost Rs. 70 lakh across the State. In the State capital alone, the 10 shows that did not take place led to a loss of Rs. 30 lakh. The Priyamani and Jagapati Babu-starrer ‘Pravarakhyudu’ lost Rs. 50 lakh.

Throughout Anantapur district, between December 9 and December 23, only a half-a-dozen shows were screened, said K. Ramasubba Reddy, vice-president, Andhra Pradesh Film Chamber of Commerce from Anantapur.

The geographical division into districts apart, the State has two major distribution districts called Nizam and Ceded districts.

The former covers all the 10 Telangana districts, including Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy, while the four Rayalaseema districts comprise the latter. Guntur and Prakasam are considered one film district, as also Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam and Srikakulam.

These apart, Krishna, Nellore, East and West Godavari are called separate districts in the industry.

Losses due to non-screening apart, two big budget films did not release as per schedule. They include ‘Adurs’ with NTR Jr. in the lead and Sekhar Kammula’s ‘Leader’ with debutant hero Rana Daggubati.

'3 Idiots' Remake Idea Among Tollywood Heroes

Two movies have been ruling the roost currently at the Tollywood box office. While one is ‘Avatar’, the other is the Bollywood flick ‘3 Idiots’. As expected, with the two movies reaching blockbuster marks, the Tollywood folks have got into the remake mode for them.

While remaking ‘Avatar’ would take another 30 years for us, it is heard that many Tollywood heroes are keen on coming up with a Telugu version of ‘3 Idiots’. They feel that the story and the emotion in the movie will connect well with the Telugu audience and they can mix it with some desi elements as well.

It is also heard that efforts have begun to bag the remake rights for the film and producers are offering astronomical figures to get them. However, some of them say it is hard to match the caliber of someone like Aamir Khan so only time will tell if the Tollywood heroes will take it up or not.

Film Industry: AndhraWood Vs TelanganaWood

Well, with so much happening on the political front in our state, directly or indirectly, the people are being forced to think in many directions. The issue of a separate Telangana state and the fight to keep the state of Andhra Pradesh intact seems to be deep and intense.

Meanwhile, thoughts have begun on how it would be if the state was indeed going to be split into two. This would give rise to two new circuits – Andhrawood and Telanganawood. As per KCR, the man who is the sole cause for all this chaos, there are many talented movie makers in Telangana and so lot of movies will be made in this region.

Well, for starters, the industry folks say that he is neither a producer nor does he know an inch about movie making or the budgeting. Anyways, on face value, that shall be taken. While it is not sure if Hyderabad would be made the film capital for Telanganawood, the aspect of considering Vijayawada as the hub for Andhrawood is strong while some suggest Rajahmundry since a lot of shootings take place in those surroundings.

Now, it is also heard that the staunch Telangana seekers have roped in the struggling hero Nitin and have given him a new title ‘Telangana star’. While it is not sure if Nitin has accepted this, members of the industry say that currently he is busy focusing on making his mark at the box office than get into such sensitive and politically dirty issues.

The fact remains that more than 80% of Tollywood comprises of folks from the non- Telangana region so while it won’t take long for Andhrawood to take roots, it will take years for Telanganawood to actually form a film fraternity and at the same time, mobilize the right kind of producers to create a decent budget movie. The other important aspect to be considered here is, what is going to happen to the audience who are the main judges for any film? Given the strong admiration they have for stars, do they have to bow down to the cheap and savage dictums of few greedy politicians and build a wall amidst themselves?

Hypothetically, if all this is looking that complicated, then one can imagine what will happen when a real life situation like this may occur. Who is to be blamed at that point of time when the whole system would run the risk of collapsing and ruining many lives in the stake.

After all, Kostaa or Telangana, everyone is a Telugu speaking and Telugu loving citizen. How can the regional barriers stop their patronage for Telugu films whether they were made by Telangana producers or Coastal ones? That has to be understood by numbskull politicians.
